Our Team

Our company is started by a team of academic experts from the Multiphase Flow Science and Engineering group in Osaka University, which is the very place where CFD-DEM coupling originated. The group prides in decades of experience in research of multiphase fluid-particle flows; from fundamental understanding of various flow physics, improvement of numerical modelling capabilities and predictions, to the application in large scale, practical industrial processes.

Technical members

Dr. Takuya Tsuji

Dr. Takuya Tsuji is the Chief Technology Officer in DENSE Ltd., taking a lead role in the technology strategy and the development of DEM and CFD-DEM coupling software. He is also an Associate Professor in the Multiphase Flow Science and Engineering group, Mechanical Engineering Department, Osaka University.

"Dense" experience over decades drives him as an expert in the numerical modeling and simulation of granular and multiphase flows, as well as high-performance computing. He obtained his PhD in Engineering from Kyushu University in 2004.

Dr. Kimiaki Washino

Dr. Washino is the Chief Information Officer of DENSE Ltd., and leads the development of the DEM and CFD-DEM coupling software. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the Multiphase Flow Science and Engineering group, Mechanical Engineering Department, Osaka University. Prior to that, he has also worked as a research fellow at the University of Sheffield and Procter & Gamble, contributing to the development of CFD and DEM capabilities. Dr. Washino holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 2011.

With decades of experience, Dr. Washino has deep working knowledge in numerical modelling and simulation of multiphase flows, as well as software development and computer programming. He is also actively involved in research and development, with continuous research publications in the field.

Dr. Ei Leen Chan

Dr. Chan is supporting the application and development of the DEM and CFD-DEM coupling software for the company, with expertise in powder technology, and numerical modelling and simulation of multiphase flows. Dr. Chan earned her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 2012.

She has also previous experiences in multiple academia institutions and companies, working both on research and application of computer modelling to solve various industrial problems related to multiphase flows.

Dr. Dorian Faroux

Having earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Osaka University in 2022, Dr. Faroux is contributing to the company's growth and innovation in modeling and software development. With a strong academic foundation, Dorian's expertise lies at the intersection of DEM, CFD-DEM coupling, programming, and numerical computing.

Dr. Faroux’s prior experience in an R&D department honed his skill set and problem-solving capabilities. He goes beyond his primary specialty with a multidisciplinary outlook and shows a keen interest in machine learning technologies which he aspires to leverage, broadening DENSE Ltd.’s application horizons.
